Our story

Founded by Melita Issa and Sumiko Ogawa, MISO Studios is a NYC-Tokyo collaborative design studio. Melita and Sumiko met while working for the Tokyo hospitality interior design firm, design 8. MISO Studios was born out a friendship between the two designers that drives their unique, collaborative approach to the design process. Even though they are from different parts of the world, their design soul comes from the same place. MISO Studios describes their design philosophy and style as "an Eastern soul with a Western aptitude". Melita and Sumiko consider themselves Interior Storytellers because they use the built environment and product design to express the human experience. MISO Studios taps into their clients passion to create strategic and eclectic modern designs. Experience modern designs that have an Eastern soul and a Western flair.

MISO Studiosは、メリータ・イッサと小川澄子が創立したニューヨークと東京の共同デザインスタジオです。メリータと澄子は、東京のホスピタリティインテリアデザイン会社であるDesign8で出会いました。

Melita issa

Melita Issa is an NCIDQ Licensed Interior Designer and LEED accredited professional with over 18+ years of experience in the Interior Design industry. She received her Master’s degree in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art & Design and went on to co-found the NYC/Tokyo design collaborative MISO Studios, LLC . Melita Launched the lifestyle sustainable product line MISO Living in 2020. She has worked for companies such as HOK, Clodagh, Meyer Davis Studios, TVS and CBX Agency. Melita resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband, daughter and Shiba Inu.

メリータ・イッサは、インテリアデザイン業界で18年以上の経験を持ち、CIDQライセンスとLEEDの認定を持つインテリアデザイナーです。 彼女はサバンナ芸術工科大学でインテリアデザインの修士号を取得し、ニューヨークと東京のデザインコラボレーティブMISO Studios、LLCを共同設立しました。 メリータは、2020年にライフスタイルの持続可能な製品ラインMISO Livingも立ち上げました。彼女は、HOK、Clodagh、Meyer Davis Studios、TVS、CBXAgencyなどの企業で勤務経験があり 、今はジョージア州アトランタに夫、娘、柴犬と一緒に住んでいます。

Sumiko Ogawa

Sumiko Ogawa is an award-winning interior designer who is a registered architect and interior planner. Having received her degree in architecture and interior design from Kyoto Saga Art College in Japan, she has been working in the industry for nearly twenty years. She has had the opportunities to design at firms like Takenaka Coporation, Inc. and Design 8, Inc. in Japan.  Her creative and hip designs have been acknowledged internatioally such as the DFAA Awards 2010 in Hong Kong. She is now passionately running MISO Studios in Japan residing in Tokyo with her husband and son.  

小川澄子は建築家・インテリアプランナーとしての資格を持ち、受賞もあるインテリアデザイナー。日本の京都嵯峨芸術大学で建築・インテリアデザイン学を学んだ後、竹中工務店（Takenaka Corporation）やデザイン8（Design 8,Inc.）で約20年の経験を積む。彼女のクリエイティブでヒップなデザインは、香港のDFAAアワード2010など、国際的に認められている。夫と息子と共に東京に住み、日本のMISO Studiosを精力的に運営している。
